I came across this quote while indulging in one of my favorite sports: Pinterest. It is written by Junot Diaz, an author whom I can only describe as “gifted” beyond measure. Being that I am a woman, I know what most women want, and how most women want to be treated. We really aren’t that complicated, so it always surprises when men indicate otherwise. We don’t actually require fireworks and expensive presents– those things are nice, but they fade into nothingness if you forget what really matters: your focused attention and effort (there are few things so attractive as effort).
I know this blog doesn’t have many male readers, but if you are a guy, and you are reading this, take this to heart:
Yes.
And sadly some of the sins she itemised are committed by women too. If we try and change someone it says clearly that we think they are not enough.
Acceptance is a gift worth more than rubies. Or chocolate.

So so true. I took a break from writing a blog entry explaining how this was the unraveling of my marriage. So very timely.

I think ultimately it’s what destroys every relationship.

This is beautiful. Worthiness has to come from within though. I agree that it should definitely come from our partner in a relationship but if we don’t have it within, we may not accept it from someone else. Beautiful share, Caroline!

Perfection.
This should be shaded, hung, framed, and studied.
This should be part of the marriage vows.
This should be sent to every single man who abuses his partner.
